Cyropaedia is a biography of Cyrus the Great, founder of Achaemenid Empire and first Persian Empire. It is a political romance, describing education of ideal ruler, trained to as a benevolent despot over his admiring willing subjects. Aspects of it would become a model for medieval writers of genre known as mirrors princes. In turn it was a strong influence upon most well but atypical of these, Machiavelli's The Prince.
